CBC Charities began in 2001 with the creation of The Tyler Ludwig Scholarship, a lasting tribute to the son of a former employee. In 2004, CBC Charities took the next step in expanding our charitable focus by creating an employee-based charity committee and defined our primary purpose as: to provide for the care and education of our youth.
With this in mind, we established the CBC Charities Scholarship that is managed through The Columbus Foundation. High school seniors from Central Ohio and the Greater Pittsburgh area entering a construction related program at a four-year college or university are eligible to apply. We awarded our first $1,000/year renewable scholarship in 2006; and continue to grow this program by increasing the award that now stands at $3,000/year. In 2020, we kept our growth moving forward with the addition of a $2,000/year renewable scholarship for a student attending a two-year university or trade school.
